Nightscapes Lecture » Stars, Milky Way, Jackson Lake, Grand Teton NP

Starry night sky and Milky Way over Jackson Lake and Tetons, Grand Teton National Park. This photo was taken at 11:15 PM (over two hours after sunset). It is one exposure of 30 seconds. The orange glow over the Teton Range on the right is light pollution from the Idaho Falls metro area, about 75 miles away. The orange glow near the bottom of the Milky Way (around the Central Bulge) is light pollution from the town of Jackson, WY–about 25 miles away.
